THE HINDU
By Swathi V.
INDIA---His sculptures adorn the Indian Embassy in Russia and national and international art galleries. His work dots many junctions and parks of the city. Yet, Aekka Yadagiri Rao has not got a deserving place in history, because the Telangana Martyrs Memorial put together by him lies neglected in front of the Assembly. Forty-two years after installation, it still awaits a fitting inauguration. The committee set up by MCH was enamoured by Dr.Rao’s design, as it was the only proposal of the monument in stone. “The square shaped pedestal has nine dents on each side, which, when added up, become 36. I made them to symbolise bullets, each bullet representing 10 martyrs. [link]
