HOUSTON CHRONICLE
By Allan Turner
TEXAS---Built on the site of a former Baptist church, Houston's new Hare Krishna temple seems impressive by any measure. Its multi-hued central dome soars 90 feet above its northwest side neighborhood; its interior features opalescent Spanish marble and a teak altar that took seven artisans almost a decade to carve. The 24,000-square-foot temple - formally the International Society for Krishna Consciousness of Houston - includes not only worship space, but room for a restaurant, book store and school, all of which will open later this year.
